Robots may be taking over the warehouse at a rapid pace; Coolblue prefers a personal approach in its warehouses. This is because the etailer is looking for a Package Hugger. Yes, you read it correctly: someone who provides the parcels with just that little bit of extra care and love.
Coolblue has always been creative with job titles. For instance, Pieter Zwart calls himself Final Boss and his assistant goes by the name Pieter Manager. Yet the etailer's latest job posting raises some question marks. According to Coolblue, the Package Hugger must be focused on ensuring that all packages receive care and love. "When a parcel has received insufficient attention in the sorting process, you pick them out and provide them with sufficient attention at the last moment," reads the vacancy.
However, it doesn’t seem to be a vacancy for a warehouse assistant. The Parcel Cuddler must, in fact, possess ‘HBO-level skills in working and cuddling’. Together with the Logistics Manager (which we think is a rather old-fashioned job title for Coolblue), the Parcel Cuddler must come up with new ways to ‘show even more love’ to parcels.
Package huggers who are interested do not have to write a cover letter but must send a 20-second video along with their CV.
Update: the parcels don't seem to be hugged for now, as Coolblue has announced that the vacancy is a 1 April joke!
