Dachser opened the doors of its new warehouse on Monday. The additional premises give the logistics service provider in Waddinxveen a total storage capacity of 50,000 square metres, with space for 55,000 pallets.
The logistics service provider has branches in the Netherlands in Waddinxveen (Logistics Center Rotterdam), Zevenaar (Logistics Center Zevenaar), Schiphol and Maastricht. The new warehouse in Waddinxveen is an extension of the existing Logistics Center Rotterdam.
Extra space comes in handy
The new building covers more than 17,000 square metres of storage space. Construction had already started before COVID-19, but just in the past few months the extra square metres proved to be highly desirable. "Particularly in the sectors we are active in such as gardening, DIY, sporting goods, cosmetics and electronics, people are spending more money," observes René van Zandbergen, Contract Logistics Manager Dachser Benelux. "The additional storage capacity is therefore even more needed now and part of the new floor has already been filled."
The logistics service provider further expects the Brexit to have a big impact on warehousing. "Many companies are moving the storage of their goods to continental Europe, and the tax advantages in the Netherlands make it attractive for companies around the world."
Connecting with other countries
The Dachser Logistics Center Rotterdam is located at Distripark Doelwijk, on the A12 motorway. It is 40 kilometres from the port of Rotterdam and 45 kilometres from Schiphol Airport. "Through this strategic location with direct connection to our European groupage network, our customers are directly connected to Europe and the rest of the world," concludes Edwin Vermeulen, General Manager Dachser Logistics Center Rotterdam.
