Logistics service provider Dachser has inaugurated a new warehouse in Waddinxveen. The building is located at Nijverheidsweg 5 on the Doelwijk industrial estate in Waddinxveen. The brand-new building, entirely focused on contract logistics, increases the logistics service provider's storage capacity by 6,900 square metres and provides space for some 10,000 pallets.
This warehouse is Dachser's fourth logistics building in the strategically located Doelwijk business park. The building is located opposite the warehouse for contract logistics that was opened in late 2020 and, like Dachser's other premises, is also directly connected to the logistics provider's distribution network. All of Europe is reached from Waddinxveen, with more than 90 fixed departures per day.
The new warehouse, which focuses entirely on contract logistics, has three halls, an area for value added services, two office areas and ample parking space. The building stands out with its large windows in the blue facades that let in plenty of daylight and is equipped with solar panels on the roof with a production capacity of 400 kW. In addition, the building is heated with a heat pump in both office areas. The lighting in both the office area and the three halls is fully equipped with LED luminaires.
55,000 pallet spaces
Edwin Vermeulen, general manager of Dachser in Waddinxveen: "We are extremely happy with our new warehouse, which could also be built in the Doelwijk industrial estate. In 2007 Dachser chose to open its first branch in the west of the Netherlands, in Waddinxveen. Back then with only 3,000 square metres and with 16 employees. I could not have guessed then, though of course I hoped, that we would be able to open our fourth logistics building here in 2024."
The new warehouse, which offers space for 10,000 pallets, brings the total storage capacity in Waddinxveen to 55,000 pallet spaces. This expansion allows the logistics service provider to continue to meet the increasing demand for storage space. "Our current customers know that Dachser stands for stability and flexibility and we want to be able to continue that. With this expansion of 6,900 square metres, we are set to continue to grow and provide the service our customers have come to expect from us."
Dachser's expansion at the Doelwijk business park can be called special. "Because of its favourable location, under the smoke of Rotterdam, the land in this area is very much in demand. When the opportunity to expand here came along, we seized it with both hands. Fortunately, it turned out favourably. The new warehouse was built on one of the last available pieces of land in the business park."
