The event Logistics & E-commercewill be led on 14 June by day chairman Tom van 't Hek. Van 't Hek may not be a logistician at heart, but he does enjoy shopping online. The BNR presenter puts himself in the category of "conservative web shoppers". "I prefer to buy from the established parties.
During the Logistics & E-commerce trade day, the extent to which the online customer determines how logistics is organised will be discussed. How important is it to meet all customer requirements? And what consequences does this have for the logistics organisation? Companies such as Picnic, Wehkamp and Only for Men shed light on their e-logistics. Van 't Hek leads the professional day and will interview Almere alderman Mark Pol at the end of the day.
What is your connection with the subject of logistics & E-commerce?
'I don't have a very specific connection with this subject. About two years ago, I presented a similar event and my morning programme on BNR does feature the big logistics stories. Prior to the conference, I read articles so that I am well prepared. So my connection with the subject is mainly personal: I am mainly involved in e-commerce logistics as a customer. Our family consists of five people and we buy quite a lot online ' .
What do you pay attention to when buying online?
"When I make a purchase I don't pay much attention to shipping costs or shipping time. I mainly look at the reliability or image of an online shop. So I usually make online purchases from a party I already know. In particular, I buy a lot of hotel services on the internet, for example from booking.com. My children often shop at Zalando.
What can we expect from you as chairman of the day?
'I am the thread of the conference, but keep a bit in the background, because I think a chairman of the day should put himself at the service of the conference. I do think it's good to be a bit critical. At a congress like this, there are all 'believers'; everyone comes from the same field and knows how good it all is. Then I like to be a chameleon and take on the colour of the opponent. As chairman of the day, you have to avoid too much euphoria or too much negativity, but on the basis of substantive questions. '
Which speaker are you most looking forward to?
'I have seen Walther Ploos van Amstel speak and lecture before and he always does a very good job. Apart from that, I'm looking forward to Picnic. That is, of course, a success story. But I'm also curious about the other speakers. For instance, I don't know Oscar Dielen's (Managing director at Flinders, ed.) story yet. At the end of the day, I interview Mark Pol, alderman of the municipality of Almere. I can't say much about that at the moment, but in any case we're going to talk about how municipalities deal with e-commerce logistics.'
