Meal delivery company Deliveroo has raised 235 million euros (200 million pounds sterling) in investment. With the capital, the British company wants to expand internationally.

Deliveroo, which delivers meals from restaurants by bicycle, now operates in home country Britain, Germany, France and the Netherlands. The company did not raise such an amount before. Since the beginning of 2015, it received 180 million euros from various investors.

The investment follows a week after Belgian competitor Take Eat Easy ceased operations due to investors staying away. Just last year, Take Eat Easy received an investment sum of 16 million euros from Rocket Internet and some British investment funds. This year, however, investors stayed away, with the company reportedly rejected by 114 VCs. Take Eat Easy has since taken its delivery drivers off the streets and is looking for a buyer.
