Trade union CNV is considering steps against Deliveroo. The meal delivery service is allegedly breaking the law by deploying delivery workers via a zzp construction.
Deliveroo currently still employs bicycle couriers, but recently decided to work only with self-employed couriers in the future. The transition to the self-employed construction would take place gradually. According to Deliveroo director Philip Padberg, this would benefit both the company and the delivery drivers.
CNV questions Deliveroo's motives. "There is a rock-hard business earnings model behind this, with all the risks being placed on the delivery drivers," the union said. According to CNV, Deliveroo wants to shirk its responsibility as an employer. Moreover, deliverers would not be waiting for such a construction at all. The union wants to talk to Deliveroo, but has not yet received a response from the company.
