Transport giant DFDS is acquiring Winterswijk-based HSF Logistics. The takeover, involving €296 million, includes 1,800 employees, 750 trucks and 1,500 trailers.
Danish DFDS had been aiming to expand in refrigerated and freezer transport for some time and, after a search, ended up with HSF Logistics. The two parties had been in talks since 2018, but were delayed due to brexit and the corona crisis. On Tuesday, they finally came to an agreement.
Securing future of company
HSF Logistics specialises in the logistics of conditioned food within Europe. It operates four brands: HSF Logistics (the Netherlands, Germany and the UK), N&K Spedition and Skive Køletransport (Denmark and Scandinavia) and Eurofresh (Germany). The company has grown rapidly in recent years, partly due to the merger with N&K Spedition in Scandinavia.
With DFDS as the new owner, HSF hopes to secure the company's future. "It is our belief that DFDS can lay the foundations for a stable future with excellent opportunities for further expansion and growth, continuing the high standards and values towards customers and employees," the company wrote in a statement.
Approval
Both parties are still waiting for the green light from the European Competition Authority. Once there, the takeover will take effect retroactively from 1 January.
