DHL will be driving around the Netherlands with electrically powered delivery vans. More than a hundred fully electrically powered vans will drive in some fifty Dutch cities. The delivery van is called StreetScooter and is produced by DHL itself.
The StreetScooters drive up to eighty kilometres per hour and have a range of eighty kilometres. They also have a cargo space of four cubic metres and a payload of 650 kilos. The StreetScooter is fitted with sliding doors on both sides. A flap at the back should serve as a shelter in rainy weather.
The carrier has set itself the goal of 70 per cent emission-free delivery by 2025. By 2050, it should even reach 100 per cent, which is why it already often delivers in inner cities by bicycle courier. Last month, the Cubicycle was launched in Utrecht, a bicycle that will take on the last mile in the city centre. DHL is introducing another 300, smaller delivery vans in the Netherlands. These are not electrically powered.
