DHL Global Forwarding has opened its new warehouse and headquarters at Schiphol Airport. A festive light projection opened the new headquarters of DHL's forwarding branch in the presence of customers and alderman Ruigrok of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. As the largest air cargo forwarder, DHL adds important new facilities to Schiphol's air cargo arsenal. In doing so, DHL contributes directly to the important cargo hub function of our national airport for the Dutch economy.

Storage and cross-dock operations will take place in a 23,000-square-metre warehouse with 38 docks, two of which will be equipped with a 20-foot dock lift. There are dedicated facilities with areas for the transport of hazardous materials, temperature-controlled fresh products and pharmaceuticals. The new building is equipped with a 3,600-square-metre modern office area that forms DHL Global Forwarding's headquarters in the Netherlands.

Sustainability

The new building meets high sustainability standards and is BREEAM Excellent certified. The entire building is gas-free, fully insulated with sustainable wooden accents in the cladding and has solar panels powering the building. The building also responds to grid congestion through an energy plaza where in-house energy is produced and stored in a battery to continuously provide its own renewable power. For working comfort, a spacious balcony has been added to the office space. The outside area is equipped with charging spots for electric cars and a green zone with a diversity of trees and plants will surround the warehouse.

SEGRO Park

In the coming weeks, the final operations will move from the old site on nearby Prestwickweg where the company was based for almost 30 years. The new site is at SEGRO Park Amsterdam Airport located next to the airport and easily accessible due to excellent connections to the A4 leading to the centre of Amsterdam, the cities of The Hague and Rotterdam but also to the extended A5 towards the port of Amsterdam. The new N201 provides access to Schiphol Airport in less than 10 minutes, making this the best accessible business location in the Amsterdam and Schiphol region.
