Last Thursday 30 guests visited the warehouse of DHL Supply Chain in Bergen op Zoom. DHL is one of the winners of the Safest Warehouse Prize 2016. SHEQ coordinator Petra Magielse showed the visitors the measures DHL used to win the prize.

DHL Supply Chain pays close attention to good tools, for example. In the configuration department, where guests were shown around, employees cut a lot of cardboard. In the past, this resulted in many cutting incidents. Today, DHL uses a knife that automatically retracts after use. This has significantly reduced the number of cutting incidents.

Concluding the visit, Petra Magielse looks back on the Safest Warehouse Prize 2016 competition. She recommends other companies to participate in order to increase safety awareness. "DHL learned a lot from it. Participating in the Safest Warehouse 2016 Award was an extra impetus for us to make and keep our warehouse the safest and most pleasant workplace."
