The nominees for the Logistica Award 2019 are known. The contenders: Copal Handling Systems, Eurotec, Robomotive and VebaBox Cool Solutions.

The number of entries for this year's Logistica Award was large. The six-member jury again praised the power of innovation within the logistics field. "The entries range from innovative improvements to existing systems to concrete solutions, but each and every one very applicable in daily logistics practice," said jury chairman René de Koster.

Voting for the public award

The nominees can be voted for online from 12 September, via the voting form. Voting closes on Friday 01 November 17:00. The winner of the public prize will be announced at the same time as the winner of the professional prize during Logistica on 5 November , 11.00 in the News Café.

Copal Handling Systems

Copal Handling Systems is competing with the Container Unloader, an automation solution for unloading shipping containers with loosely loaded goods. Unloading these containers is currently still done manually and is a labour-intensive job. With this application, loosely stacked cardboard boxes or jute bags are unloaded and possibly palletised fully automatically. The machine drives into the container and, using a telescopic belt and specially developed grippers, can pick up the load to the back of the container. The system is equipped with scanning software, 3D vision technology, laser sensors and cameras that recognise the entire process and determine the best gripping sequence.

Eurotec

Eurotec's Lowpad is a very low, compact, omnidirectional AGV in multiple versions. This AGV can carry almost all existing load carriers, even Danish trolleys or retail roll containers. The Lowpad can manoeuvre in tight spaces and carry more than six hundred kilograms. It operates safely among a company's staff, allowing logistics processes to be gradually automated.

Robomotive

The Robomotive box pick cell (pictured above) is an order picker. The robot can pick boxes and individual items within a range of three metres. Thanks to a 3D camera system and adaptive gripping technology, there is no need to use AI or deep learning. The robot is capable of picking up and positioning randomly stacked boxes. The box pick cell can pick around four hundred items per hour, with an availability of more than 95 per cent.

VebaBox

The VebaBox is an active cooling solution that fits into almost every transport van. The cooling solution can be used as a cheaper alternative to a cooling van or can be used to optimise quality and efficiency within the entire cooling chain. The box is adapted to the van and can be moved loosely between the van and the loading area. A refrigerated load carrier prevents cold chain breaks, keeping products at the right temperature throughout the chain.

Logistica 2019

On 5 November, during the opening of Logistica 2019, it will be announced who can receive the Logistica Award. The winner of the public award will also be announced then.
