It was raining awards at the Safest Warehouse Prize 2017 awards ceremony. None of the six nominees went home empty-handed at the twelfth edition of the award ceremony. "The level of safety in warehouses has increased enormously in recent years. That makes it a lot harder for the judges."
Abbott Logistics wins Safest Warehouse Award
Abbott Logistics from Breda had the safest warehouse this year. The logistics provider participated in the safety awards with other warehouses before. With its Breda location, it won Gold this edition. "Safety is in the genes of Abbott's management," explained jury chairman René de Koster, "This company is an example for logistics Netherlands. It uses the latest technologies and safety does not come at the expense of operational efficiency. Go all see Abbott in Breda."
Silver and Bronze
Herbalife Nutrion won Silver, as did nominee Bavaria. "Herbalife tries to involve all employees properly. It also makes no distinction between permanent employees and flex workers." Bavaria won partly on size. "Bavaria has a large warehouse where people work with large trucks. A potentially dangerous situation, but not at Bavaria."
Bronze went to MegaGroup Logistic Services in Veghel, Koninklijke Gazelle in Dieren and Philips HealthTech in Drachten.
Safest Warehouse Award
The Safest Warehouse Prize is an initiative of organisations such as BMWT, evofenedex and Sector Institute Transport and Logistics. The nominees are assessed by the jury on criteria such as commitments, monitoring, safety on the shop floor, management safety requirements and the working climate.
