Parcel service DPD is opening a new 11,000-square-metre distribution centre in Vijfhuizen. The property features a sorting machine over 500 metres long.

With a new location near Amsterdam, DPD expands its logistics capacity to 13.3 million parcels a year. The parcel delivery company considers the Amsterdam region, together with Eindhoven and Rotterdam, as one of the most important logistics hotspots in the Netherlands.
The distribution centre stands on four hectares of land, covers over 11,000 square metres and has around 2,000 solar panels on the roof. Sorting machine LS-4000 CB sorter has an efficiency four times higher than comparable sorters, according to DPD. With a capacity of 5,500 parcels per hour, it offers flexibility to handle peaks.
The centre will provide work for around 100 additional employees.
