DPD acquires BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport. The companies provide conditioned transport for the healthcare, food and pharma sectors. Precisely that specific knowledge now comes in handy for DPD.

According to DPD, the recent healthcare crisis has meant that trends that were not expected until 2024 occurred much earlier. In the past year, demand for delivery of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare products rose unprecedentedly.

Specific knowledge

This market requires very specific knowledge and extensive experience, DPD believes. By acquiring BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport, the logistics service provider can meet the requirements set for conditioned transport. "We are delighted about the cooperation with BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport," says Eric Dietz, CEO DPD Netherlands. "We can learn a lot from each other, enter new markets together and therefore grow in temperature-controlled transport for the food and healthcare sectors."

Independent organisations

The organisations will continue to co-exist and be managed independently. BK Pharma Logistics and BK Sneltransport will continue to provide transport from the distribution centre in Boxmeer, so nothing will change for customers of these companies. The same applies to the 130 employees, although the takeover will give them more opportunity for individual growth and development, says managing director Paul Bouwmeester: "The partnership with DPD gives us the chance to grow faster and also gives us access to a network of larger, international customers. That will bring benefits for our employees as well as our customers."
