Parcel service DPD Netherlands opens a new distribution centre in Goes. With the new location, DPD expects to significantly reduce the delivery time and CO2 emissions of parcel delivery in Zeeland.
The distribution centre has a floor area of 3,500 square metres and a sorting machine over 250 metres long. It provides 50 extra workstations. DPD chose to renovate rather than rebuild an existing building. The renovated building is fully covered with solar panels.
Eric Dietz, CEO DPD Netherlands: "After opening depot Maastricht two years ago, we are now opening the depot in Goes. By opening new depots, we are continuously expanding our capacity to respond to the demands from our customers, the market and to handle peak volumes quickly. We are also looking at how we can plan our routes more efficiently and how we can significantly reduce our CO2 emissions. We are doing this, among other things, by deploying electric vehicles."
