Due to logistical problems at supplier Van Dijk Educatie, thousands of secondary school students do not yet have their textbooks.

According to De Stentor, it concerns 7,500 pupils who do not yet have their materials. The VO Raad, umbrella organisation of secondary schools, reports having received 'many signals of major problems'.

Van Dijk Educatie is responsible for about two-thirds of the books in secondary education. More than ten million books are involved annually, which are provided by four thousand temporary workers in July and August.

The problems at Van Dijk are said to be caused by a lack of temporary workers. Moreover, schools are placing their orders later and later, according to the supplier. According to the VO Raad, Van Dijk Educatie has promised to deliver all books this week.
