In the negotiations for the new collective labour agreement in Professional Goods Transport, Transport and Logistics Netherlands (TLN) has made a final offer: in three years, all drivers and logistics workers must improve by 10 per cent.

The final offer came on the night of 8 March. Until 1 July 2017, TLN believes a 2 per cent wage increase should follow, as well as on 1 January 2018 and 1 January 2019. Additional pay scales will also be added, eventually raising the wage increase to 4 per cent. This means that drivers and logistics workers will gain at least 10 per cent over the next three years.

At the same time, drivers' basic pay will be increased by 2.25 per cent, but the overtime bonus will be reduced from 30 to 15 per cent.

Control
More say over the number of hours to be worked is another demand of TLN, which teamed up with Royal Dutch Transport (KNV) for the collective agreement requirement. The two unions also demand a personal choice budget of 18 sustainable employability days, to be taken off or spent on further training.

Unfair competition from abroad should also be better combated, according to the two plaintiffs, with an extension of working conditions to be applied to both domestic and foreign hiring and temporary workers.

It is now up to the FNV, CNV and the Union to discuss this offer with their constituencies. This may take several weeks.
