Major players in the European parcel shipping market have reached an agreement on the introduction of a standard shipping label. The label should further standardise the European parcel market.

The introduction of a standard European parcel label has been debated for some time. Carriers within Europe now use their own system of labelling and identification. This would be expensive and inefficient, so the European Commission asked postal operators to reach new agreements within the European standardisation body on the use of standards in the parcel delivery market. At a meeting of Ecommerce Europe, agreement was now reached for the first time on a single identical European parcel label. A draft of the parcel label is currently before CEN and national authorities. The label is expected to be available in early 2017.
