EVO and Transport Logistiek Nederland are still not satisfied with price for tachograph cards charged by Kiwa Register. Despite the fact that the price of the cards will drop by two euros in 2016, the amount is still too high, think shippers' organisation EVO and TLN.
On EVO's website, the organisation reports that the price is still too high. Tachograph cards will cost 97 euros per card in the new year. "EVO and TLN continue to fight Kiwa Register, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and the Inspectorate for the Environment and Transport (ILT) over the establishment of this rate."
Cost-covering
According to the organisations, the price is too high because the costs would be amply covered and there is no intention to make a profit on the cards. "A study on the cost recovery of this fare is currently underway. In fact, previous investigations showed that the fee for tachograph cards is far too high - much higher than the costs incurred by Kiwa to make the cards." The study on the structure and creation of the cards should have been completed earlier. Initially planned for 2015, the study was delayed, and the results are now expected by mid-2016.
More clarity
EVO has been working for more than a year to get more clarity on the high costs. "We continue to stress in this discussion that the fee should only cover the cost of an efficient business process. In addition, it remains a mystery why rates in surrounding countries are lower," the organisation reports on its website. The price in the Netherlands is significantly higher than in other countries.
