The bankruptcy of Scheer & Foppen also spells the end of the road for logistics service provider E-Man. The bankruptcy ruling handed down yesterday covers not only the 56 Scheer & Foppen shops, but also the online shops Bobshop and Internetshop, as well as the logistics service provider.
Yesterday, the court in Gelderland pronounced the bankruptcy of Scheer & Foppen Electro Speciaalzaken B.V. The company had been facing declining sales for several years. Consumers were reportedly increasingly ordering their electronics and white goods online.
The bankruptcy will put 475 employees on the street. The management reportedly pushed for a takeover, but that proved to be in vain. Talks had already been held with all the obvious takeover candidates. The shops and online shops covered by the bankruptcy will remain open for the time being to sell existing stock.
Scheer en Foppen Installatietechniek, which employs about 100 people, has not been declared bankrupt and therefore remains operational.
E-man emerged from the transport arm of Scheer & Foppen, but had been independent since 1998. The logistics provider said it operated for six large online shops and a large number of retail shops.
