FonQ is building a new distribution centre on the Lage Weide industrial estate in Utrecht. The newly built premises will offer twice as much space as the web retailer's current warehouse.
From four warehouses to one location
Rapid growth in recent years has forced fonQ to move into additional warehouses. As a result, distribution is currently spread across four locations. "By bringing this back to one location, we can make great strides in efficiency," explains Michel Schaeffer, ceo ad interim of fonQ. "Packages can leave our warehouse even faster, leading to cost savings."
Lage Weide
The new logistics centre will cover an area of 22,000 square metres and will be located next to Hema's distribution centre. It is the last available piece of land on Lage Weide, the business park along the A2 motorway. Initially, it was mainly home to industrial construction companies. In recent years, the emphasis has been more on logistics and distribution.
