Logistics service provider Geodis and Delta Drone want to deploy a drone that determines stock in warehouses. The drone can count and report stock in real-time and aims to integrate the entire value chain.
The device is currently being tested at a Geodis warehouse near Paris. Eventually, the drone should be deployed in all of Geodis' 300 warehouses worldwide. Jointly designed by Geodis and Delta Drone, the drone is capable of retrieving and processing data in Geodis' Warehouse Management System (WMS).
The device consists of a ground-based robot and a quadcopter equipped with cameras. The system features indoor geolocation technology, allowing it to operate autonomously when the warehouse is closed.
