The Google Glass is back on the market. The augmented reality glasses were taken off sale in 2015, but are now becoming available to businesses again.

This writes Emerce following a statement from sister company X Company. There has been almost three years of silence around the Google Glass. The glasses hit the market in 2013 with much fanfare, but were not received positively. The integrated, unobtrusive camera would violate the privacy of bystanders. In 2015, it was therefore decided to stop production of the glasses.

Enterprise Edition
Meanwhile, the glasses continued to be developed and tested behind the scenes at companies, according to the statement. The so-called Enterprise Edition was already being tested at companies such as DHL, Boeing and Volkswagen. The new model has a number of improved functionalities. For instance, the camera is sharper, the processor faster and a red light now illuminates when recording with the camera. In addition, pairing with safety glasses is possible. The goggles will be sold for between $1,300 and $1,500.

The wait is on for logistics companies to start using the Google Glass. Smart glasses are already being used in many warehouses for more efficient operations, with employees keeping their hands free during order picking thanks to the smart glasses.
