Students from Fontys University of Applied Sciences are going to solve logistical issues around their webshop for companies such as Zalando, Herbalife and Paradigit. For instance, Zalando wants students to investigate why the return rate of specific products is much higher than for other product groups. The collaboration with students is said to be so popular that the university has had to disappoint some companies for the time being.

The projects are part of the E-Preneurship minor of Fontys Hogeschool Techniek en Logistiek Venlo. Sixteen students learn what online entrepreneurship entails and the logistical challenges involved in running a webshop. The full-time minor lasts five months and was set up in cooperation with Thuiswinkel.org and KennisDC Logistiek.

The University of Applied Sciences wants to ensure a good fit between education and business and has therefore opted for a practical approach. In a press release, the University states that the demand from companies to use students for research on webshop logistics exceeds the supply. This would indicate how much need and willingness there is from companies for reciprocal knowledge exchange. The students will work with the companies Paradigit, Topvitamins, Zalando, Herbalife, JoboHockey, Web2media and Seacon Logistics.
