HelloFresh is shaking up its logistics services. A new distribution centre in Maastricht is to increase the meal box company's logistics capacity. HelloFresh will additionally collaborate with logistics startup Foodlogica. Soon, the parties will start delivering by bike. Customers of the service will also have the option to follow the delivery route online in real-time.

Customers will have insight into the exact location of their order from half an hour prior to the delivery time. This is made possible by the installation of logistics navigation software on all regular delivery vehicles. According to HelloFresh, the system should also ensure fuel reduction. In Amsterdam, the company is starting delivery by bicycle, equipped with refrigerated storage capacity. The delivery method will be tested for a month. After this, HelloFresh may expand delivery by bike to other major cities.

New distribution centre Maastricht

Earlier this month, HelloFresh opened a new distribution centre in Maastricht. Here, orders for the southern areas will be prepared. HelloFresh thinks this will reduce the number of kilometres it has to drive. Olaf Vreeburg, Head of Operations at HelloFresh: "We find it important that our meal boxes are delivered to our customers as quickly as possible, so that we can guarantee the freshness of our products."
