Less than a month ago, CEVA Logistics went home with the title 'The safest warehouse in the Netherlands'. That has brought a lot to the warehouse in Oud Gastel. Not only does higher safety awareness among employees apply, it has also created more efficiency. "Safety does not always have to cost money, it can also save money."

CEVA Logistics competed for the award for the third time this year. According to Karel Loeffen, operations excellence manager at CEVA Logistics, entering the competition was not a goal in itself, but part of a larger roadmap. "We wanted to increase the safety awareness of employees in general. Taking part in The Safest Warehouse was a good fit for that."

CEVA Logistics instituted quite a few measures to arrive at the award. "If you add up all the little things, we definitely made more than 100 adjustments. There is a contious improvement board here, where everyone can put their own improvement cards. That included a lot of safety measures. " According to Loeffen, employees were rewarded if they actively applied the measures. "On the one hand, you explain to people what you expect from them, in addition, you reward the behaviour you would like to see."

Curious about what adjustments CEVA Logistics has made to become the Safest Warehouse in the Netherlands? Karel Loeffen will give a lecture on the road to this title on Tuesday 10 November at 15:00. He talks about motivating employees and about the misconception that still exists about the cost aspect of safety.
