Honeywell is acquiring Intelligrated, US-based warehouse automator, for $1.5 billion (€1.35 billion). The acquisition should be completed around the end of September 2016. With the purchase, Honeywell trumps Toyota, which was also eager to acquire the US company.

Honeywell aims to meet the growing demand for solutions in warehouse automation in e-fulfilment by acquiring the company. The company has hooked a big fish with Intelligrated. The specialist in warehouse automation, order fulfilment solutions and warehouse software expects to realise sales of 900 million euros this year. Intelligrated mainly supplies the top-30 US retailers, with over 3,000 staff spread across North America, China, Mexico and Brazil.

Growth
Alex Ismail, president and CEO of Honeywell, wants to grow: "E-commerce continues to grow rapidly and consumers want their orders delivered quickly. This increases the need for warehouse, logistics and fulfilment solutions that increase productivity and reduce costs for consumers."
