Hoogvliet will close the doors of its distribution centre in Alphen aan den Rijn in 2020. The supermarket chain is moving to Bleiswijk, where a new distribution centre is being built on a 13-hectare plot.

About 1,000 employees work at the distribution centre in Alphen aan den Rijn. For several years, Hoogvliet also processed online orders here. The supermarket chain wanted to stay in Alphen aan den Rijn, but failed to reach agreement with the municipal executive on expansion. In 2011, Hoogvliet therefore bought a new-build site at Prisma business park in Bleiswijk.

It was still unclear when Hoogvliet would leave the DC in Alphen aan den Rijn and whether all departments would move to Bleiswijk. The supermarket chain has now decided that all service and distribution departments will move to the business park. The new location will also provide employment for around 1,000 people. The park has direct access to the A12 and N209 motorways.
