The Inspectorate SZW will be checking in distribution centres in the coming months. In recent years, the number of accidents in distribution centres, involving forklift trucks and pallet trucks among others, has been rising.

According to the inspection, these are serious accidents in which workers, mostly temporary workers, are hit by forklifts, electric pallet trucks or other means of transport. The collisions occur mainly in corridors, at the loading dock, walkways and at crossings. These workplace accidents are usually caused by negligence or failure to follow safety instructions.

Reason for the Inspectorate SZW to check in this industry in the coming period. The primary focus of the inspection is workplace safety. This includes checking whether there is an adequate risk inventory and evaluation and an action plan to adequately manage the risks. Inspectors also look at whether workers are paid fairly and whether companies comply with rules on working hours. The inspection will be completed by the end of this year.
