Logistics service provider Jan de Rijk Logistics has appointed Fred Westdijk (52) as its new CEO. Westdijk succeeds Sebastiaan Scholte who stepped down from the company on 1 July.
"Fred is well versed in the challenges of international logistics and has the experience and knowledge that match our strategic objectives," Jan and Jacqueline de Rijk of the family-owned company said of the appointment. The new CEO started in his new role on 1 September. Westdijk started his career in 1999 at KLM Cargo and subsequently worked at Exel Logistics, DHL Supply Chain and Jan de Rijk Logistics . In recent years, he served there as director of Contract Logistics.
Acquisitions not ruled out
Under the leadership of the new CEO, the logistics service provider will continue to focus on further organic growth in road transport, intermodal transport and contract logistics. Future acquisitions are not ruled out either. "Jan de Rijk Logistics has strong assets: motivated loyal people, an experienced management team, a very healthy financial position, a clear vision of the future and the right strategy to achieve it. And all of this rooted in a strong family," says Westdijk.
New director of contract logistics
To continue the initiated strategic expansion of contract logistics, Don Brewel has been hired as the new Director of Contract Logistics. Brewel is currently Commercial Director Healthcare at DHL Supply Chain and will join the company on 1 November.
Jan de Rijk Logistics provides road transport & intermodal services, contract logistics and retail distribution for customers. The logistics provider has a fleet of more than 1,000 vehicles, over 130,000 square metres of warehouses, and 27 branches in 14 countries. Jan de Rijk Logistics employs around 1,400 people across Europe.
