Lidl has started construction of a new distribution centre in Oosterhout, Gelderland. This is Lidl's seventh distribution centre in the Netherlands.

The building will have an area of 54,000 square metres, making it one of Lidl's largest distribution centres in Europe. During construction, Lidl aims for the Breaam-NL certification 'Outstanding'. This is the highest attainable certificate aimed at the sustainability performance of a new building project or, for example, a renovation. During construction, sustainable building materials are used. In the distribution centre, Lidl works exclusively with sustainably generated energy. A nearby windmill supplies energy to the DC.

Most sustainable logistics building

The supermarket discounter is busy building. At the end of 2016, it opened a distribution centre in Waddinxveen that was labelled the most sustainable logistics building in the Netherlands even before it opened. From this DC, stocks will be transported to around 100 Lidl stores in the Randstad region.

E-commerce DCs in Venlo and Oud-Gastel

An e-commerce DC of Lidl will open in Oud-Gastel near Roosendaal next spring, intended for the supermarket chain's European e-commerce activities. The premises should provide employment for around 1,200 people. Meanwhile, a second e-commerce distribution centre, intended for delivery in the eastern Netherlands and part of Germany, is under construction in Venlo. This distribution centre will offer employment to 300 to 400 people.
