Linde Material Handling introduces an intralogistics solution that now makes trucks in distribution centres insensitive to uneven floors. The Active Stability Control (ASC) is an intelligent interaction between mechanical and electronic sensors that prevents the truck from rocking sideways.
The condition of the floor plays a crucial role in intralogistics. In places where narrow aisles drive trucks with lift heights of up to 18 metres, unevenness in the floor can cause the truck to rock dangerously. If the floor does not have the required VDMA quality, either the speed of the truck must be reduced, or the floor must be ground level.
Carrier wheels prevent rocking
With its new technology, Linde Material Handling speaks of a "revolution for this type of operation in the narrow aisle warehouse".Active Stability Control (ASC) is an intelligent interaction between mechanical and electronic sensors, permanently scanning the floor structure. When the system detects unevenness on the travel path, the carrier wheels provide compensation and prevent the truck from rocking sideways.
Linde says that with ASC, maximum speeds of up to 14 kilometres per hour are possible with lift heights of up to 18 metres. Provided the safety distance is sufficient, ASC can compensate for differences of up to ten millimetres between the left and right lanes. This makes a floor quality in line with the less stringent requirements in DIN standard 18202 (tab. 3, line 3) sufficient, as lateral oscillations are compensated where they occur.

'Even new warehouse floors do not meet quality requirements'
"The new technology is also of interest to customers working in a rented hall who can make few adjustments to the condition of the floor," says Anna Keilbach, narrow aisle product manager (VNA) at Linde Material Handling. Even with new warehouses, it pays to equip trucks with Active Stability Control, Keilbach says: "Even new floors often do not meet the necessary quality requirements." However, the VNA product manager stresses that expert advice is also very important here. "Our network partners carry out an on-site analysis and calculate the optimum solution for the customer. The specific site conditions are always the deciding factor."
Presentation at World of Material Handling
Linde Material Handling is presenting the ASC technology for the first time at the 'World of Material Handling' taking place from 4 to 15 June at the Maimarktgelände in Mannheim.
