LogiMAT will not go ahead after all. The risk of the coronavirus in Germany and the Stuttgart region has become more acute, states fair organiser EuroExpo. The event will not be moved; a replacement date in 2020 could not be found.
In recent days, cancellations for the intralogistics trade fair were already trickling in. Jungheinrich, Still, Linde Material Handling, Dematic, Vanderlande and BITO indicated they would not be present on the show floor between 10 and 12 March.
Increased risk
However, until Wednesday, LogiMAT considered it just possible for the 18th edition of the fair to go ahead. The local health authorities did not expect an increased risk for exhibitors and visitors. "At the moment, however, the risk has become more acute due to the increased and accelerated spread of the coronavirus in Germany, especially in the Stuttgart region," theoorganiser wroteon its website. The regional public health office therefore instructed EuroExpo to cancel the LogiMAT as yet.
No replacement date
"This is bitter, given the overwhelming importance of LogiMAT Stuttgart for the global intralogistics industry. The cancellation of LogiMAT due to external, unforeseen circumstances is unprecedented in the event's 18-year history," said Christoph Huss, Managing Partner EuroExpo. "Despite tremendous efforts in cooperation with Messe Stuttgart, we could not find a later date to host the event in 2020, so it is with great regret that we have decided to cancel LogiMAT 2020."
