Belgian meal delivery service Take Eat Easy has ceased operations and is looking for a buyer. Despite promising growth figures, the company would need a 'judicial restructuring'.

"We are incredibly proud to be at the forefront of the food revolution, delivering quality meals to people's homes and workplaces. Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye," the founders write on their website. The startup grew more than 30 per cent monthly over the past year and delivered more than 1 million orders. The startup counted some 350,000 customers and delivered from as many as 3,200 restaurants.

Capital injection
Last year, Take Eat Easy received an investment of 16 million euros from Rocket Internet and several British investment funds. This year, investment funds failed to materialise, partly due to competition from companies such as Deliveroo. The company is said to have been turned down by 114 venture capital firms. Take Eat Easy has now withdrawn all its delivery drivers from the streets and hopes to resume operations once a new buyer has been found. The start-up delivered meals in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain and France.
