The distribution centre of fulfilment company Montapacking in Molenaarsgraaf was destroyed by a fire during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. As no one was working at the time of the fire, there were no injuries.
The fire with an as yet unknown cause was discovered a little before five in the morning. The extinguishing efforts could not prevent the destruction of the premises in Molenaarsgraaf, the company reported on its website.
Orders taken over by other warehouses
Montapacking is currently working with all its might to continue day-to-day operations. The fulfilment company already has a temporary building in Meerkerk at its disposal, which will be set up as soon as possible. Operations at Montapacking's nine other branches will continue as usual. "They pretty much take over the orders from Molenaarsgraaf. That's the power of decentralisation: when one branch disappears, in our case there are nine left to take over. IT poses no problem either," says managing director Edwin van der Ham.
Customers have priority
According to Van der Ham, customers are now the priority. "They are suffering the most from this and we are doing everything we can to alleviate that suffering as much as possible. For them, therefore, everything really has to go on as quickly and as much as possible. They are also in discussions with their suppliers to get the lost stocks replenished as soon as possible."
