McDonald's is going to deliver fast food to your home, joining forces with delivery app Postmates. A striking move, as the fast food chain previously seemed reluctant to such collaborations. Indeed, only last year in the Netherlands it protested against the arrival of startups like Ring & Bring, which buys products from a company and then delivers them to the consumer.

The chain has now decided to start home delivery after all, leaving this to an external party. Initially, McDonalds will deliver from 88 of its own restaurants in New York. In this way, the fast-food giant hopes to serve more consumers between the ages of 18 and 34, a target group that likes to order food via smartphone.

Postmates vs. Thuisbezorgd.nl
Postmates, the delivery app, is already working with Starbucks in the US, among others. The company is similar to Thuisbezorgd.nl. However, the difference is that Postmates takes more of the logistics activities out of its hands as it employs its own delivery staff.
