From the fourth quarter of 2021, the first parcels will be sent from Zalando's DC in Bleiswijk. The 140,000-square-metre distribution centre is the e-commerce giant's first Dutch location. Ingram Micro will be responsible for the logistics operation there.

Zalando today announced the cooperation with the logistics provider. The two parties already work together in other locations, including the Swedish distribution centre near Stockholm. Ingram Micro, which also handles logistics for parties such as bol.com and de Bijenkorf, expects to create 1,500 jobs in the new DC in the medium term.

Zalando started construction of its first Dutch DC in Bleiswijk in 2019. The 140,000-square-metre building will open its doors at the end of this year. It will then be the e-tailer's largest logistics centre to date. The building also has the highest level of automation. For instance, it will feature goods-to-person shuttle technology. With the new location, Zalando promises shorter delivery times in the Benelux, including same-day delivery.

Upon completion, the building is expected to receive sustainability certification BREEAM 'Very Good'. To this end, Zalando is investing in sustainable materials and solar panels on the roof.
