SMEs in logistics have had a good year. 57 per cent of Dutch SMEs recorded a turnover increase in 2015. Expectations for 2016 are also predominantly positive.

This is according to the annual SME Market Monitor by Unique and research agency Motivaction. For 26 per cent of entrepreneurs, turnover remained at the same level, for 8 per cent of companies turnover went down. "The message that the Dutch economy is doing well again is one we've seen in the news a lot lately. Fortunately, that positive tone also applies to logistics," said Loes Dingemans, general manager of Unique.

Expectations for 2016 are also good. Almost 80 per cent of entrepreneurs expect turnover to remain the same or grow this year. 29 per cent of SMEs think their turnover will grow faster than that of their industry peers, 37 per cent think they will grow in line with the industry. Only five per cent of companies expect a smaller growth than the industry. "Maintaining the positive line is one of the main challenges for the future. What absolutely must not be missing in this is attention to staff, the most valuable capital of any company. By inspiring, facilitating and encouraging, you create inspired people. And it is precisely they who make the difference."
