Logistics service provider Nabuurs launches a solution to combat half-empty containers. Consolidation platform 1Freight combines small deliveries for duty-free shops into full containers. With this, Nabuurs says it is responding to the increasing demand for small supplies since the corona crisis.
1Freight aims to combine different products in small quantities for transport by sea. Nabuurs collects the pallets from manufacturers and combines them into a full container. 1Freight's transhipment facility is located at the terminal in Katwijk, allowing containers to be loaded directly onto boats. The container is conditioned, allowing products to be transported simultaneously at different temperatures.
Director Ard Nabuurs: "1Freight fits perfectly with our strategy for a future-proof supply chain. You see that duty-free shops want to sell more and more different products, but at the same time shelf life is also important. People therefore want to stock less, so they prefer to order small quantities at a time instead of large containers."
