To cope with the peak rush at the end of the year, Nedcargo is renting an extra distribution centre in Nieuwegein. Due to the many stocks held by customers, storage levels at Nedcargo's sites are very high, requiring additional storage
The logistics service provider won many new customers last year. However, the high storage levels are due to the inventories of existing customers. "The high stocks predict high commitment from food manufacturers for the holiday season. Nobody wants to sell 'no' these days and they are willing to hold higher stocks. Our export department is also experiencing high days, exports from Dutch food producers are unprecedentedly high," said Roderick de la Houssaye, managing director of NedCargo Group.

The high storage levels could jeopardise warehouse throughput. Nedcargo feared that service levels would suffer. The distribution centre in Nieuwegein offers an additional capacity of15 thousand pallets. "It is a nice cross-dock location in the middle of the country. This will allow us to get through the holiday season well."
