Yesterday evening, the first edition of the NL Packaging Awards took place; an award ceremony for the most prestigious packaging in the Netherlands. In studio 21 in Hilversum, winners in 13 categories were announced by Jort Kelder. Neopost and Smurfit Kappa went home with the logistics prizes.
In the Shipping Packaging category, Smurfit Kappa Elcorr won the title with the One2SRP. The judges praised the packaging for its optimal use of materials from one sheet. "There is a unique configuration from plano to box, optimal material use from one sheet, optimised by function. The packaging has a good carrying function, is easy to open, offers quality presentation on shelf and good vertical strength." Runner up in this category were Click & Pick, submitted by Smurfit Kappa ELCORR, and BottleFX, an entry from Raypack.
Neopost Shipping also went home with an award, in the category Innovation Machines. The company won with the CVP-500, for which it also received the Logistica Award earlier. The CVP-500 packs fully automatically in a minimal box, saving volume, cardboard and filling material. The jury: "Little air is packed, no filling material is needed, less handling, a worry-free and sustainable entry. We do wonder how much waste this generates at the beginning of the line." In this category, the runner-up was Displaybox, an entry from Smurfit Kappa TWINCORR.

Awards were presented in 13 categories, ranging from best beverage packaging to most sustainable packaging. Winners included major brands such as Heineken , Vivera, Kwekkeboom, Peeze and AH.
