Forklift specialist TVH is outgrowing its logistics jacket and has therefore started the construction of a new distribution centre. The building in Waregem, which should provide space for the storage of more parts, should be operational in 2019.
According to TVH, it will be a high-tech automated distribution centre of 12,000 square metres. From here, orders will be picked, packed and shipped. The new DC is needed because TVH's 540 logistics employees process around 8,000 orders per day, while the current buildings are equipped to handle 3,000 orders per day. With the new DC, TVH aims to consolidate stocks and thus achieve faster lead times. Nevertheless, the current premises will also remain operational, although TVH has not yet announced how it plans to set up the processes.
To cope with the growth during the construction period, the forklift specialist will hire about a hundred extra temporary workers in the coming years.
