Atheleteshop commissioned a new warehouse last weekend. From its new location in Groningen, the online sports shop can ship up to twenty thousand parcels a day.

The retailer reports this in a press release. Atheleteshop moved into its previous warehouse - where it had an area of 1,500 square metres - just two years ago, but had since grown out of this location. "We had become very efficient with the metres though," explains managing director Yuri Solinger to trade magazine Twinkle.

The new building on the Atoomweg covers an area of 8,000 metres, which Atheleteshop says will allow it to ship an even larger number of items from stock. Athleteshop's product range currently consists of 200,000 sports items, with the warehouse accommodating 100,000 items. From the location, products are shipped to 15 countries in Europe and beyond.

In markets outside the Netherlands, Atheleteshop plans to work with logistics hubs, Twinkle knows. These hubs are already in operation in Germany, with Spain to follow next. Solinger expects to have hubs in five locations by the end of 2018. "Among others, we are also looking at the UK and France. We also want to have those hubs for procurement."
