Logistics service provider De Huisman Group is moving into a new warehouse in Wijchen this month. Here it will store 6700 pallets for third parties.

The Huisman Group engaged Dexion to supply the pallet racking. These are 10.5 metres high and are operated by reach trucks. Dexion recommended a shelf length of 2,700 millimetres. This length would give the solution for limited point load on the floor and makes site management easier. The warehouse will achieve a high fill rate of 93 per cent on average.

To save space, De Huisman Group has opted to use slimmer girders. For the order picking activity, the lower layers will be fitted with these beams, in combination with steel lattice shelves. The picking locations are 650 metres long. "The chosen girder version saves space and in future situations still offers the possibility of placing 3 pallets of up to 600kg," says supplier Dexion.

The Huisman Group also offers road transport, with a focus on transport to and from the UK. For this it has a warehouse Corby.
