Burkhard Eling will become the new CEO of logistics service provider Dachser from 1 January 2021. The Germany-based company is replacing the current management team for a 'next generation'.

At the beginning of next year, Dachser will have a new Executive Board, led by CEO Eling. Stefan Hohm, who has been with the company for 27 years, will join as CDO (chief development officer), Alexander Tonn will become COO Road Logistics and Edoardo Podestà will stay on as COO Air & Sea Logistics. The position of CFO is still to be filled.

The 48-year-old Eling has been CFO at the German company since 2013, where he was responsible for the global implementation of the SAP system and shaped the company's transition to the legal corporate form 'SE'. He also led the strategic innovation programme called 'Idea2net'.

The current CEO, Bernhard Simon had been a member of Dachser's Executive Board since 1999. He will join the company's Supervisory Board with effect from 2021. "At the end of 2020, Michael Schilling (COO Road Logistics, ed.) and I will hand over our responsibilities on the Executive Board to the next management generation," Simon said in a statement. "This joint move, which has been planned for some time, will give a new impetus to the future of the company. The Coronavirus crisis is certainly a major challenge for the entire management team, but it does not call into question our long-term strategy. What is important now is to pass the company on to a new generation, starting at the top."
