Due to the growing demand for NSK products, roller bearing producer NSK Europe has commissioned a new European distribution centre (EDC) in Tilburg. With this, NSK is expanding its warehouse space in Tilburg by 72 per cent.
The EDC has a floor area of more than 17,000 square metres. The new warehouse will accommodate bearings for industrial and automotive applications, for customers spread across Europe, Russia, Turkey and the Middle East.
As a turnkey supplier, SSI SCHAEFER was responsible for dismantling and relocating the existing pallet racking from the old site in Tilburg. The warehouse builder also realised additional new equipment, such as pallet racking for bulk storage, pallet racking for box storage and a two-storey shelving unit for picking.
"Our move was logistically a huge job as customers should not notice anything and deliveries should continue as usual," says Daan van Iersel, Project Manager at NSK Europe. "For the relocation of 18,000 pallets, we worked continuously with two shifts; one shift at the old location and one shift at the new location. Thanks to the good cooperation between SSI SCHAEFER and NSK, the relocation went smoothly and we finished even earlier than expected."
