Royal Rotra's road transport and logistics business units are now officially under logistics service provider Kuehne + Nagel. The takeover announced at the end of 2019 has been approved by the competition authorities. All shares were transferred last week.
Rotra now consists only of the Air & Ocean divisions, and with the sale of the road transport and logistics divisions, Rotra hopes to ensure continuity. The Dutch company says developments in the road transport market called for a bold response. "In time, it will become more difficult to maintain a well-covering European road transport partner network due to the loss of partners through takeovers or lack of succession. That is why it is good to join forces with Kuehne + Nagel now," the company said in a statement.
Rotra Air & Ocean is to focus entirely on the expansion of sea and air freight forwarding and inland shipping activities as an independent digital forwarder.
