Workers in the transport and storage sectors are still frequently bullied in the workplace. CBS figures show that only in education is there more bullying than in the transport and storage industry
Harassment by customers and colleagues
In the warehousing and transport sectors, over 9.5 per cent of employees are bullied by customers. But this industry also scores high when it comes to mutual harassment by colleagues. In 2014, 9.4 per cent of workers were bullied by colleagues or supervisors. This is a problem, as victims of harassment are sometimes no longer able to perform their jobs properly. They no longer trust colleagues or call in sick, for example.
Frequent incidents
The majority of reports involve incidents. Persistent bullying by colleagues and supervisors happens to 'only' 1.2 per cent of employees. Long-term and sometimes systematic bullying by external relations and clients occurs in 0.6 percent of Dutch employees. Again, outliers are transport and storage (1.3 per cent) and education (1.2 per cent).
