Picnic is steadily expanding to the West of the Netherlands. The online supermarket has been delivering in The Hague and Scheveningen since last week. Next location is Rotterdam.

Schiedam and Vlaardingen will also be next. In Rotterdam, Picnic will expand neighbourhood by neighbourhood. "A city the size of Rotterdam cannot be connected in one go," Michiel Muller told Distrifood. From 31 March, it will deliver in the Overschie district. In the new cities, Picnic is now recruiting new delivery staff. A waiting list is expected for the new locations. Consumers can already sign up now. "Through previous launches, we now know that there is a lot of interest in cities where we are launching. The sooner people download the app and sign up, the sooner it will be their turn," Muller said.

Picnic received an investment sum of 100 million euro earlier this year, allowing it to rapidly expand to new locations. Last March, the online supermarket opened a new distribution centre in Utrecht to facilitate growth.
