DL Steelweld, TNO and app only supermarket Picnic are jointly developing an electric delivery vehicle for the last mile. The new vehicle is to replace Picnic's existing trolley.
This is what De Laatste Meter writes based on the publication of approved DKTI projects. Picnic currently runs orders around with vehicles that are not robust enough to transport goods. Typically, such carts are used for municipal works or larger sites. Therefore, the online supermarket is now betting on a new commercial vehicle.
The project is called DUELL: Development of an Urban E-truck for Last-mile Logistics. This zero-emission delivery vehicle is being developed for heavy last-mile urban logistics. The vehicle is expected to go into production in 2020, with Picnic being the first user.
